2000 S. High Street
A friend of mine has purchased and is rehabbing an olde industrial space on South High Street.
Built in the late 1800’s it has many floors and beautiful wood & brick walls. While they have done extensive work to clean the space up, being an industrial workplace for nearly 100 years before being abandoned, it IS rather dusty and the original wood floors are covered in it, despite the deep cleaning.
Currently he is still trying to come up with ideas on what to do with the 50,000 + square feet of space. Sectioning it off into dozens of offices and rental spaces is the obvious choice, but he is very photographer friendly, and already has one photographer tenant.
My idea for him is to make the space available to photographers on a daily or hourly basis. I see a need in Columbus on the weekends for places to take bridal parties, especially in bad weather, to shoot first looks or post ceremony formals. This could be done by keypad access codes and paying online with a previous rental agreement already worked out and signed. The user would have access for a limited time span and the space (currently) is more than big enough to host several wedding parties without them running into each other.
Since the Ohio Statehouse its the main ‘go-to’ for inclement weather, competitive rates would apply: $75 for two hours, $100 for three, or something similar.
